I got a new Recipe this week….
The laundry tap exploded and filled the garage, and foyer for over an hour…. so yes it also went down stairs, into the “Harry Potter cupboard"
Named so because it's a huge storage space under the stairs that grant access to the lower level of our place.
I've been heard to say for the past 8 years I still haven't unpacked everything - and part of that is in this particular zone.
Harry Potter cupboard has also been storing all our family photos and memorabilia. My family history.
Water, photos, old paper and cardboard boxes. Yes, a complete recipe for disaster!
Quick thinking by the Daughter and Husband saved a lot of precious things for us all, and now I've spent the best part of the week checking, drying and sorting.
I've had some pleasant surprises and some good, deep belly laughs after the initial tears.
Imagine the surprise at finding an old Treaty copy, rather ironic given this week's date, the "Cook book” - that doesn’t cook a thing - and my Nana's Plunket cook book from 1938, which is full of good old time meals and sweets, and to my delight Ive found my Nanas mince pie in it. A recipe we thought had been lost forever!
I've also "cooked up” a good mix in Gabriels this week… SHOES on SALE and now all the SUMMER CLOTHING is on SALE too!!!!!
That's a recipe for a happy mix for the hottest parts of summer to come. New Season is arriving and we need the space…. So see you soon.
