Design faults

Apparently Summer bodies are made in winter… well I'd like to talk to the manufacturer please seems I have a design fault!Seems that this body of mine is objecting and I'm needing to find new clothes… Just as well I know a great place to sort myself out. The Newport Pants are a winner, and the Mi Moso white jeans are really comfy, they’ve certainly become a go-to lately. The one thing I'm thankful of is that feet don't seem to change as much as bodies!!I do know though feet too have design faults, BUT our shoes for naughty feet...

Everyone loves a wedding… My nephew just gave us that celebration, making new memories and us appreciating what goes into making a day special. Husband and I went down to the family farm to "help out”.getting it all ready… I felt like Aunty with all the jobs. It was our absolute pleasure being able to be where we were needed, and I even got to play hairdresser again for the bride.I was glad of our lovely dress selection, which meant I didn't have to look too far for the perfect dress to take me to a pretty wedding and I'll...

Panting along

There's grey days and then there's Fay days… It's a crazy mixed up type of season already… the weather is turning it on and off at a whim… I find this part of the year so hard to work out what to wear… so it's safe to say great pants certainly help make great days. This week I'm crushing on the great range of Newport, Yarra Trail and Vassalli pants we have in… but especially the wider leg Greys we have that just seem to be ticking all the boxes right now.Not too heavy, Not too wide, Not too light, Not...

I seem to have a thing about Tee’s right now - spelt differently but both meaningful in my life. You can’t beat a great T-shirt, and this season I've noticed that a great White Tee can go simply everywhere. As we headed away for a couple of days I realised that a new T-shirt or top will take you to so many places. Especially in this unpredictable weather! As it's Jeans season it's also Tee season… that perfect solution to ‘What's the weather doing today?” Layer it on with the perfect sweatshirt, or cotton jumper and strip off as the day warms up…...

What no wifi?!

It's Birthday week for the husband, which means I celebrate too, mostly because mine is Christmas week, and doing what I do, that's just always been a frantic time, so I sneak in with him…So we got in the car and headed North. It's beautiful up here in the Hokianga Harbour. Very untouched… even more so that the internet won't hook up - so my story this week was to be about the beautiful gift Tea we have… but I'm going to need the pictures to talk for themselves… after all a picture is worth a thousand words. Better...

There's a few things that life is too short for, 1 is instant coffee, 1 is sore feet, and 1 is Jeans that are too tight and hurt around your middle, or fall down!I start most days at the computer, in my dressing gown, as the sun comes up, with a good cuppa tea, then a coffee… and all should be right with the day…Lately I've been spending more time than usual trying to figure out what I'm wearing to work. That's not like me. I have a work capsule- pants and tops that I don’t have to think about,...

Monumental moments

It's like leaving Kindy and having your first day at School - (one day you can’t go out the gate without an adult and are fully fenced in and the next you aren’t in with a shut gate and can leave when the bell rings). As of today, we don't have to wear masks while out and about! What a liberating day. Well, for those of us in Retail we know it was slipping anyway and we were self moderating - But now I don't feel like the naughty kid when mine is off.I've had a few interesting moments over the past...

I need to get out more

My friend put a fun thing on Facebook - attach the last photo you took on your phone in comment with no words, so being the good friend I went to do just that for Judy, and alas all I had for a snap after snap were photos of nightgowns, pyjamas, lingerie, togs and clothing because all I have been doing is working 🤭 Indent and new season stock arriving has had me landlocked at a desk weekdays and working in Point Break Saturdays and Sundays means life has been a little unbalanced of late. Don't get me wrong, there's...

...But who’s counting…
Posted by FAY HAAKMA
Day 3 of beautiful sunny mornings! The days are all blurred into one at present - they just all end in a Y, but I sure have noticed the morning temperatures and the absence of rain, and realised I was counting… Looking for Confirmation spring has really sprung.I've been doing the viewings and buying for next winter, which has seen me all over the place, 3 nights in Auckland, shoes, 1 night in Tauranga, clothing, and I stayed with a friend, who pointed out that it was (at the time) 19 Fridays till Christmas, I was like it's 3 Fridays till...

It's been a whirlwind few days - but the consistent thing has been proud Mumma moments…Friday night we attended the book launch for Big Brads book, he’s been one of my boys since he started coaching our kids wakeboarding, we knew he could be a “rat bag” and we knew he had a very colourful side, but we claimed him, and him us. It was devastating the day we landed in the states to be with him, that he broke his neck and is now a quadriplegic. We have a history, and now we have a story. His book -...

Bake a Cake? what!
Posted by FAY HAAKMA
I don't bake, I don't bake with love, that's for sure. I cook. Sometimes, I cook with love, but mostly not, now.…so when I decide to bake a cake, it's big. Really big.Last cake I baked was for Margaret, I did it so Robyn could eat it too, (that was her birthday a year ago). It's boy kids' Birthday week. "It's dinner at 5 stags with the mates" he says. "You can come". Ok, we will, perfect. But how to make it a bit special, get a cake. No. Bake a cake.Pffft think my oven hates me. First cake-round, hard around edges,...

Another circle of the sun sees August here again and this month boasts a birthday daily in my circle of love. 💕Sunday saw us in New Plymouth celebrating an 80th for my special Aunty. It was filled with great catch ups and a few laughs - on mass we are quite a lot, and as descendants of a great yarn teller and a real lady, you can imagine the chaos the “Cooks” can bring to a Party, all be it a luncheon at Cobb & Co.I did have an inlaw mutter at me, "just too many Cooks in that room”...
