🎶 lord it's hard to be humble,🎶 when you're perfect in every way,🎶 I can’t help but look in the mirror cause I get better looking each day.🎶To know me is to love me, I must be a helluva guy, Oh lord its hard to be humble but at least I give it a try 🎶We have an old truck, he’s the apple of the husband's eye. Old Dusty we call him. He’s nice, I have to admit, and I love him too. But he’s no show truck. He’s solid, comfortable and can lull me to sleep in 30min. We...

"I'm not as big as you"A statement like that at 9.15 in the morning can bite a girl before she’s had a decent coffee!Helping a lady find a skirt on Tuesday, she said what size do you think I am? Now this is a trick question at times, so I asked her “What size do you think you are?”( In my mind and experience she appeared to be between a 14-16). So I answered this, and she replied “Well I don't want to be a 16!"My quick reply was "not many of us do, unless you’re a 18-20 then you...

Oh the Wonder

I heard myself ask a young girl “so what's your superpowers?” at a job interview. She told me how wonderful she was at client service etc, and I sat there wondering if she actually could deliver all she promised.Flick forward a day and a lady is just browsing, thinking out loud, “I wonder if we will get a very cold winter” as she stroked the lovely warm jackets and coats. Always one for a bit of banter I replied "well at least with a good jacket you won't have to wonder if you’ll be cold on a cold day” -...

Know when to walk away, know when to run… I found myself singing this to chickens a few days ago, apparently it helps them lay. Not sure if Im completely “round the bend” as Nana used to say, but Im clearly getting close to it. However I don't do birds, but doing this song in a hen house actually reminded me I'm not chicken myself. The song choice however, how did that pop up? Well I guess that's subconsciousness. It's been with a heavy heart that we have decided to move Midnight Ivy from its own space/shop/address, and merging it into...

The helpers were chasing each other around the kitchen this morning, doing circuits, as I was navigating my first cup of tea. I was like you 2 what's going on? Cat Dog Cat Dog 😬 ☕️ Then I just helped chase next door's 2 puppies doing circles around the road back in their gate while still in my dressing gown (thank goodness it's a lovely Yuu one from work!). What's with the animals this morning?I have to admit I was feeling a little emotional, it's a bit of a big time in our house right now.I've indeed been doing circles...

Little Sam (one of my young ones in the village of our life) had his school ball last week. Of course photos were posted of the young couple, Sam dressed complete with Jacket and Tie, “looking Smooth” said many comments. "Looking sharpe" said many more, which caught my fancy. Here’s our "Little Sam" (nicknamed because we also have a Big Sam, just like we have a Mini Brad and Big Brad) all done up posing for photos and there's a comment line on if he’s Sharp or Smooth. His father proclaimed “Ok, he’s Looking Sharp and acting Smooth” and that we...

Our girl kid she is allergic to winter she announced it this morning! Good thing she’s off again shortly to case the summer wakeboarding comps around the world. A lot like many clients we’ve been seeing lately, heading off on exciting adventures around the globe. Me on the other hand, the closest Im getting to an overseas adventure right now is in the pages of Atlas- the story of Pa Salt, the new book. I've climbed right in and can hardly put it down, which means I've not really minded these foggy cold mornings as it's been the excuse to...

It's not a matter of if you watched it, it's more a matter of how. Myself - ended up snuggled on the couch from 10pm with a girlfriend whom has herself been a recipient on the Queen's honour list. All be it when the gin giggles settled and we got down to the serious business of respectfully watching the King's Coronation we did find ourselves being philosophical that we may even end up watching 2 of these in our lifetime. We did wonder if there were many people who have now in fact been in this position. Seeing both Queen and...

Special occasion dates. Are these “just a thing” which some of us take as just another day, or even feel a bit pipped at the media or retail hype around it… but love it or lump it Mother's Day is a week away.Healing these hands of mine I found myself watching a movie called Otherhood. I laughed out loud a lot! (Thanks Netflix)I've had a weird time with Mother's Day, Only having my own for 9 years, and then the beautiful Grandmothers and Aunties, who stepped in and were certainly the village which raised us, to gaining a mother in...

As always April 25 holds a special place in my heart - It was my Nanas birthday and of course Anzac Day. I always find it odd that we say least we forget… when I always choose to remember…I was also saying a quiet thank you to our lovely merino that I had layered on to make dawn parade. In Mangakino it was absolutely freezing! Monday night there was the moment when I saw the mist on the breath of the crazy's we were with outside show up and at that moment I knew it was going to be freezing...
